Meet Hawa Kamara

Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, Hawa has been interested in different ways of storytelling since she was a kid. She was always a choir kid, (soprano 2s represent!) but really started off her career strong in the fourth grade, when she was cast as a "Yellow Brick Road Girl" in The Wiz. From there, she has been entranced with the world of theatre.

She continued her training at Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts as a vocal performance major. She then had the honor of attending Young Arts as a finalist in theatre in 2019. She went on to study musical theatre at Emerson College, where she graduated in spring of 2023.

Most recently, she's played Veronica Sawyer in Heathers (a huge dream role!) and Anita in Jelly's Last Jam, and she will have her professional debut playing Wendy in the Peter Pan National Tour! She hopes to continue to tell stories that are typically undertold in any platform possible!

"Wendy is played by Hawa Kamara who in this version is less interested in being a Mother than in being a caregiver, she plans to be a Doctor. This version of Wendy is much less damsel in distress and mother figure and Kamara projects a strong female protagonist. "-The Stages of MN
